Fremantle Markets is one of Fremantle most iconic attractions. Taking up an entire city block on the Cappuccino Strip the markets is one stop shop for locals picking up groceries and a morning coffee, families spending an afternoon browsing stalls and visitors soaking up the atmosphere of one of the few original municipal markets in Australia.
Entrances to the markets are from South Terrace, Parry Street, William Street and Henderson Street. Explore the labyrinth of stalls selling all manner of wares. Local artisans selling sophisticated gifts reflecting this iconic seaside destination, fashion designers, vintage fashion, homewares and fashion accessories.
Step inside the Fremantle Markets and enjoy the distinctive atmosphere of over a hundred years of vibrant culture and heritage. Established in 1897, the building is one of only two surviving municipal market buildings in Western Australia.
Listen carefully and you just might hear the horse and carts of yesteryear, arriving at the markets full to the brim of fresh fruit and vegetables. Where once you would find a service yard and stables, you will now find The Yard, brimming with street food vendors showcasing flavours from around the world as well as fresh fruit and veg, bread, flowers and more.
The Fremantle Markets are internationally recognised as a place to discover new trends and find something unique.
Fremantle Markets is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday public holidays with the Yard open from 8 am-6 pm and the main hall open 9 am-6 pm.
