Established in 1928 by the Oceania Trading Exchange, the site of The Freo Doctor Liquor Store was established by the Sgro family, provedores of Italian foods and beverages to the local Italian community as well as ships and their passengers and workers. During the 1930’s, Oceania’s added a Maddington based winery and South Coogee market garden to their business, supplying wine for the premise, local business and export. Two of the original wine vats still reside in the cellar of The Freo Doctor Liquor Store.
