Freo.Social

Tue, 06/29/2021 - 23:06
Freo.Social is one of the premier live music venues in town and also the home to Otherside Brewing Co. Situated in the convict quarter of Fremantle, close to the Fremantle Markets and the Fremantle Prison, this cool venue has a unique history of its own.

Once the Artillery Drill Hall, the venue now known and loved as Freo.Social has a very interesting link to badminton. The hall was constructed in 1895 as a facility for the town's volunteer artillery corp. The first game of badminton ever played in Australia was held in the Atrillery Drill Hall after a senior officer of the Fremantle Artillery Corps, Captain GF Moore, returned from a trip to the UK with 8 badminton rackets.

The badminton court markings can still be seen on the floorboard in Freo.Social's Entertainment Hall over a hundred years on. Today the Entertainment Hall is making its own history as an outstanding live music venue with an impressive variety of shows to catch each week. Check out the gig guide at Freo.Social's website or Facebook page.

With a weekly pub quiz, garden parties, food specials and the core range and experimental craft beers from Otherside Brewing Co. there are many reasons not to skip Freo.Social.
