Kidogo Arthouse is a bustling independent art centre located at the water’s edge at Bathers Beach in Fremantle, Western Australia. Kidogo presents a vibrant program of exhibitions, festivals, candlelit soirees and sunset lounge concerts both on the wooden deck overlooking the ocean and inside what was Fremantle's Old Kerosene Store in 1884.
This magical venue sits between the ocean, Fremantle's freight train line and the West End.
The limestone building was erected as Fremantle's dangerous goods store on wharfage ground recently reclaimed from the sea. The site was considered a safe enough distance from other buildings; yet relatively close to the Long Jetty where the kerosene would be off-loaded from ships.
Today Kidogo Arthouse hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year and accommodates a plethora of artists and visiting galleries on a local, national and international scale. Rain, hail or shine Kidogo is a beautiful place to appreciate art in all it's wonderful forms. It's a popular place for weddings and special events and in the summer months hosts the pop up Kelp Bar.
