Iconic artist Anya Brock rounds up 27 of Perth's best artists in Fremantle
Fremantle was the perfect place for iconic local artist Anya Brock to bring SALON to life. Art and culture are part of the fabric of Perth's port city.
This Freo first group exhibition in Anya Brock's Fremantle gallery and retail space will showcase the work of 27 of Perth’s most sought after emerging and established visual artists. Part proceeds from every sale will go towards RUAH Community Services - an independent, not-for-profit community service that takes bold strides to end poverty and social disadvantage in Western Australia.
"Being able to share the space with such incredible artists and celebrate such talent in the new FOMO gallery after only being open a few months feels like a real win for Freo, and for me personally", said Brock.
"As a group, we're excited to be supporting RUAH Community Services - an independent, not-for-profit community service that takes bold strides to end poverty and social disadvantage in WA."
Featuring a range of paintings, mixed media and sculptures, the show launches at The Anya Brock Gallery at FOMO FREO on Friday 8 March with a free celebratory event from 6-9pm that is open to the public.
"Coming together to spend time with others - in real life - is an antidote to despair, plus, looking at art can shake us awake, make us slow down, and help us to concentrate."
Contributing Fremantle artist and business owner, Kate Hulett, embraces the opportunities it brings for connection with art and community: "So, this group show at Anya's Gallery is sort of like medicine -- but for your spirit and soul. Everyone can take it safely and there are no limits on consumption. Doctor's orders."
The exhibition will run until Sunday 17 March, with all works available for purchase in the gallery and online from Saturday 9 March.
