Get ready for another year of world-class theatre, boundary-pushing works and spectacular storytelling when Fremantle International Street Arts Festival returns to the streets this Easter from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th of April 2026.
From sculptural hairdressing and weightless acrobatics to twisted trailers and contemporary Chilean harlequins, this year's edition of the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival is set to be one for the ages! Meet some of the weird and wonderful characters who will be landing in our port city this Easter and start planning your weekend now.
Osadía / Spain
The art of hairdressing becomes live theatre in the barber chairs of Osadía, an audacious and original street theatre company formed in Barcelona by hairdresser and artist Alex Rendón. Blending dance, music, art, and performance, two spectacular-looking artists transform volunteers from the audience into extraordinary, evocative characters, turning the act of styling into a captivating showpiece set to music.
Those who dare take the chair emerge transformed — not only in appearance, but in behaviour — as they suddenly become the centre of attention! These ephemeral creatures continue the performance long after leaving the chair, photographed and admired wherever they go, acting as living reminders of the show. With a dedicated cult following, Osadía has toured extensively across Europe, Australia, the Americas, Africa, China, and Southeast Asia, delighting and astonishing audiences worldwide.
Karcocha / Chile
A contemporary Chilean harlequin whose show is rooted in improvisation, Karcocha transforms everyday spaces into playful theatrical adventures. He interacts freely with everything around him — people, children, animals, sounds, passing cars — turning ordinary moments into unexpected comedy and poetry.
With performances in more than 60 countries across five continents and more than 5 million followers on social media, Karcocha brings a universal language of humour, spontaneity, and human connection to streets and festivals worldwide.
Karla Kaartdijin / Australia
A powerful Noongar performance by Karla Hart Productions in collaboration with ZAP Circus centered on karla or 'fire', this work honours its deep significance to Noongar people as a source of life, knowledge and connection. Through a striking fusion of dance, story and song, the performance weaves cultural tradition with contemporary spectacle.
Audiences can expect breathtaking pyrotechnics and stunning fire artistry that illuminate the stage, alongside evocative choreography and storytelling grounded in Country and culture. Karla Kaartdijin invites audiences to reflect on fire as teacher, healer, and life force in a moving and visually spectacular celebration of resilience, cultural strength, and the enduring flame of Noongar wisdom.
Weight(less) / UK
With a blend of acrobatics, movement, and humour, this heartwarming performance dismantles big problems into moments of laughter, celebrating hope and support to leave you with a smile, unforgettable imagery, and a spring in your step.
Created by Mimbre, a female-led company renowned for more than 25 years of breathtaking acrobatic theatre, this performance combines delicate skill and innovative circus artistry to illuminate human connection in outdoor and unconventional spaces inviting audiences of all ages to laugh, cry, and dream together.
Lil' Trailer of Horrors / France
A daring Australian premiere show based entirely inside a caravan and presented by France-based The Miraculous Theatre Company. Audiences are invited to leave all hope behind as they step through the caravan door and into a twisted, intimate world where menace, humour, and the absurd collide. Presented in five-minute performances designed to thrill, amuse, and terrify, each encounter offers a bite-sized descent into the bizarre.
Set deep in the Louisiana swamplands, the story introduces Bub and Stacey: trailer-trash transplants from the Deep South, newly arrived in Fremantle in search of fresh opportunities — and a little fame. Bub has walked away from life on the alligator farm so the world can finally witness the fearful and awesome telepathic powers of his daughter, Stacey, a young southern belle whose abilities are as unsettling as they are extraordinary. Darkly comic, wildly immersive, and deliciously uncomfortable, Lil’ Trailer of Horrors transforms a humble caravan into a roaming sideshow where the performance begins the moment you step inside.
