After a few COVID-interrupted years the Walk-On will return in 2024 to officially open the 2024 SeaLink AFL Masters National Carnival in Fremantle on Sunday 29 September 2024.
Starting from the historic Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle at 4.45pm, participants from all States & Territories – including the 10th team, the Umpies – will walk through the streets of Fremantle from 4.45pm. Led by the Mayor of Fremantle Hannah Fitzhardinge, the AFL Masters congregation will walk past the Fremantle Markets and then onto the iconic Fremantle Oval, home of the South Fremantle FC.
Arriving at Freo Oval at approximately 5.20pm, there will be the official Opening Ceremony including a Welcome to Country and a Memorial for those Masters mates who have passed away in the last year.
There will be a few feature matches following – together with rekindling friendships with old mates – that you won’t want to leave
