As part of the Little Italy by the Sea Festival & Blessing of the Fleet, Concetta’s Italian Cooking Experience presents a special one-hour Sicilian cooking workshop celebrating the food, traditions and stories of Sicily’s beautiful coastline.
Participants will discover traditional Sicilian techniques for preparing tender octopus and learn a treasured family recipe passed down through generations. The experience also explores the stories and traditions behind the dish, before participants gather around the table to share and enjoy the flavours they have created together.
A first-generation Western Australian of Sicilian heritage, Concetta brings a deeply personal connection to the food and maritime traditions of Sicily. Her father was a fisherman in Sicily before migrating to Western Australia, where he continued his life and profession as a fisherman in Fremantle and Lancelin.
This special festival experience brings together Sicilian food, family traditions and Fremantle’s rich Italian maritime heritage, offering visitors a taste of Sicily in the heart of Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
