Set against the stunning backdrop of Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour and Bathers Beach, this free, family-friendly event will showcase a spectacular fusion of music, dance, global flavours, and cultural traditions from around the world.
A Celebration of Culture & Country
The festivities begin with a powerful Welcome to Country led by Elder James Webb and a stirring performance by the Wadumbah Dance Group. This opening ceremony will honour and share the stories, traditions, and deep connection to Country held by WA’s First Nations peoples through music and dance.
Live Performances from Around the World
Throughout the day, multiple stages and performance areas will showcase artists from across Western Australia, representing cultures from Oceania, Asia, Europe, and South America. Festival Carnivale at Bathers Beach will be a major highlight – bringing to life the passion and colour of Latin America with energetic dance, vibrant costumes, and irresistible rhythms.
Enjoy performances across the precinct, including Flamenco, Irish Riverdance, Venetian and Chinese dancers, Zorba the Greek, Tarantella, and Can Can routines. Mews Park will come alive with the Eighties Arena show and a live Latin band covering iconic hits from Santana, the Gipsy Kings, and Buena Vista Social Club.
Activities & Entertainment for All Ages
Families can enjoy a wide range of children’s activities throughout the day. From mermaids and unicorns to creative workshops and hands-on fun at the WA Shipwrecks Museum, there’s something magical for every child. Keep an eye out for the dazzling 50-metre-long Dragon Dance winding its way through the crowd, and don’t miss the charming Vintage Belles fashion parades along the Bathers Beach boardwalk.
Global Flavours by the Water
Food lovers are in for a treat with an exciting selection of international cuisine. Fremantle’s favourite restaurants will be joined by food trucks and pop-up cafes serving up dishes inspired by the flavours of the world-from street food classics to multicultural favourites. Come hungry and explore the global tastes that WA locals love.
A Stunning Seaside Setting
With Balinese flags, colourful lanterns, and festive lighting decorating Mews Park and Bathers Beach, the entire harbour will be transformed into a welcoming and visually stunning celebration space. Whether you’re dancing to the beat, enjoying a meal, or soaking up the sunset, there’s no better place to be this WA Day.
