This is a skills-based art workshop exploring painting techniques. We’ll start with some drawing exercises, including learning about mark-making and different ways to warm up the muscles in our hands. Next, we’ll do some mini studies to start understanding our subject, looking at shape, value (light and dark), line and colour. After we’ve learnt some new skills, we’ll apply this to creating a painting, working from line to value to colour to create an original painting.
There are two workshops, one designed for young artists aged 7 - 11, and one for 12 - 16's. We have two teaching artists in every workshop and cap participants at 15 students, meaning there is plenty of one-on-one support.
