Explore a series of stunning new ochre paintings by three Gija men from the East Kimberley.
Warmun Art Centre in the East Kimberley nurtures Gija culture, story-telling, and oral history. Within these strong traditions younger members of the community are finding their own way into cultural representation, expressing themselves in new and distinctive ways.
Three of the younger generation of men are artists Jonathon Malgil, Dwayne Jessell, and Troy Drill. The artists use ochre pigments while finding new ways to deploy this ancient material.
The exhibition is presented in association with Warmun Arts and is on display at Japingka until 18 July 2025.
