A series of contemporary portraits by Fremantle-based artist, Freya Hall, on display at CURRENT this Easter Long Weekend.
Many people experience a paradoxical response to pressure: it can cause debilitating and overwhelming stress or lead to hyperfocus and spectacular performance.
In her first solo exhibition, Pressure :( Pressure :), Freya Hall explores how incorporating pressures, such as speed and distraction, can positively impact art making.
By experimenting with modes of over-stimulation, Hall developed a personal process that quietened her mind and forced a reliance on instinct. The result is an energetic series of oil portraits that offer a glimpse into an unfiltered subconscious.
