Andrea Fowler's explanation of the collaboration with Fra's Ceramics:

This exhibition is a labour of love — the result of two artists pouring soul and dedication into every piece. Lovers of the beach and all things nature, Andrea and Francesca find joy in wandering along quiet shores and immersing themselves in the natural world.
Andrea, a former dancer who has explored many creative paths, began painting in her early fifties. Through workshops, classes, and retreats both locally and abroad, she developed a rich artistic practice. Her bold, vibrant paintings—often layered with mixed media—reflect a deep emotional connection to her creative process.

As Andrea describes it:
"Like meditation, you may not always want to show up, but you do it anyway. You know it’s beneficial, and it helps keep me calm and grounded."

This new body of work, Beach and Botanicals, is a celebration of life’s simplest pleasures, grounded in the rhythms and textures of nature.

In collaboration with Italian ceramic artist Francesca Geromino, whose international career brought her to Fremantle a few years ago, the exhibition presents a compelling dialogue between painting and sculpture. Originally a civil engineer, Francesca turned to ceramics over a decade ago as a personal creative outlet and source of wellbeing. Six years ago, she transitioned into full-time professional pottery, bringing the precision of her engineering background into harmony with the expressive, organic nature of clay. Her ceramic artworks—striking in form, delicate yet powerful—draw inspiration from organic shapes and natural resilience.

As Andrea puts it:
"The idea of joining forces with Francesca for a joint exhibition was an easy and exciting choice. Her ceramic sculptures are stunning—strong, yet fragile all at once."

Beauty inspired by nature. It's as simple as that.
