Anzac Day

09 September 2021

Fremantle is a unique location to honour Anzac Day as it was the last Australian experience many soldiers and sailors had before departing the shores to join the war effort overseas.

5.50am – 6.45am | DAWN SERVICE

Fremantle War Memorial in Monument Hill Park, cnr High Street and Bateman Street, Fremantle

Anzac Day will commence with a traditional silent Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Fremantle War Memorial, home to the plaques honouring the 849 Fremantle servicemen and women who failed to return from WW1.

9.30am-11.30am | MAKE YOUR MARK IN OUR POPPY INSTALLATION

Walyalup Koort, Fremantle

Imagine a sea of poppies, sprawling across the grass slope of Walyalup Koort! See a unique display of spinning poppies, created by artist Michael Alvares, and take part in the workshops, to paint your own poppy and add it to the display.

9am – 9.30am | NORTH FREMANTLE COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Fallen Soldiers Memorial, cnr Queen Victoria Street and Harvest Road, North Fremantle

Following the Dawn Service, the Fallen Soldier War Memorial in North Fremantle will hold a community service. Gather around Fremantle's first war memorial for the service hosted by the Bicton/Palmyra RSL Sub-Branch.

10.15 am – 10.45 am | ANZAC MARCH

The morning commemorations will conclude with the traditional Anzac Day March through the streets of Fremantle finishing at Walyalup Koort. The march will travel along the Cappuccino strip, turn down Henderson St Mall and head down William St before falling out at Walyalup Koort.
